This mini-series are snapshots of my art during my Highschool years... I hope to share a little bit of myself with you. I don't want to go into too much philosophical detail because I'm scared I'll sound pretentious
afterall, how many times have we listened to an artist give a long-winded explanation that didn't seem very relevant at all to the piece of art?
In summary, I love layers. I love chaos, patterns, organic things, colour, contrast...
Upper left: Final piece based on a sketch of giant lily-like leafs.
Upper middle: Sketchbook, a human body with organic, root-like abstracts blended together
Right: Abstract final piece
Bottom: Sketchbook demo of texture experimenting, (I did tonnes of pages but this was my favourite)
Some tips for other students
Make mistakes. Be impatient. Enjoy being messy, and if you accidentally go overboard on one piece, don't try to rescue it. Progress is not by making one giant final piece, but by many many little chaotic pieces threaded together~!
